yesterday night

was wonderful; spent with erin, we ate take out on the floor of the living room, and played mario kart.

the meeting no one called

Yesterday morning we had a meeting. After a few minutes it was clear; no one had called the meeting. For whatever reason we all had met and thought there was going to be a meeting but in fact no one had called a meeting. In the end we did actually meet. Since we were all there anyway.

I know because I took notes.

Illustration Friday: "Communication"

Most every problem I would think, you can trace back to communication. Mostly a lack of communication. Is that the problem here? Maybe. We may never know.

All art done by me in photoshop. Effects in iMovie.

Semi-animated, quasi-animatic-like storyboards dropped in iMovie with a few effects.
And some appropriate music, again, apologies to Michael Giachinno.

I edited out the name of the company at the end just for fun. This video and all the storyboards were created as a pitch for a set of commercials. The idea being (when you see the video you'll see) you may be good and amazing at what you do but without company X, you're not really. Rather, you may have what you need but you're lacking the crucial componet that company X can provide.

We had a meeting about it and came up with the punchline and I sat down and just sort of made up the rest. Roughly boarded the whole idea out in pencil then made some cleaner storyboards in photoshop.

tuesday morning

Lots of client work + recently + me - personal time = no new art to post

however,
I have discovered that my mac can take video. Even sped up video. So, for anyone who wanted to see what the view from my monitor looks like, click the below:

This is my Tuesday morning. Most of it was boring, but the film is sped up so it goes like a fast boring. I cut out the really boring parts, like where it's just my head jittering around looking at work on the screen. Mostly I just left in where people came over to talk.

There's really only one worthwhile part, around 23 seconds into it. I would not blame you if you stopped watching after about 26 seconds.

Others in my short film, in order of apperance:
Cedar, Portland intern.
Chris.
Justin.

I think Brannon pops in at one point. I don't remember. I'll have to check.

At one point I picked up the computer and held it next to the hamster cage. But it goes quick. Keep a sharp eye.

bang, bang

Note: I did not shoot my computer.

I have a small hand gun which shoots copper BBs. This morning a co-worker (who also has a small hand gun which shoots copper BBs) and I went out back, set up a target, took aim, and fired.

From 40 ft away with a BB gun, I am deadly accurate.

the creature upstairs

There is a new creature upstairs at my desk. It is small and mostly never awake.

Answering to the name, "Charlie" this creature belonged to two friends who had two creatures in one cage.

After many blissful months, the one tried to eat a hole through the other. I now have the one that got almost ate through.

This creature buries itself in the pine. It's curious method of submersing itself ensures that I will not be able to determine when the creature has passed from this life-- other than the smell it will no doubt reek.

I awoke the creature yesterday morn to check on the status of its living. It was infact alive.

And now, it runs on its wheel. Constantly.

our kitties:

Harrell (Whittington) | named for my printmaking professor in college.

James (Bond) | named for his eyes-- they are golden colored. (GoldenEye)

Kitty, our oustide cat. One of our 5 strays. Kitty is the only one that actually likes us. They rest just eat our food.

(not photographed-- our other strays we feed, the regulars that just eat the food)
